Lesson 4

Proquest -
I did my basic search on multiple sclerosis. Wow! There were lots of articles and they were in depth. More information than I knew what to do with. I would need to dumb the information down a little for my to understand it, but it is great that there is so much information out there.

I read through several challenge cohort's blogs. It is interesting that we all go about things differently and all find many things we did not know. Having a goal of learning something new each day is very easily accomplished with all this available information.

When searching for publications I first searched for rancher there were zero publications found. I searched cattleman, sheep, and farmer with the same result. When I searched for agriculture there were six publications. This is not a site I will use very often.

  1. Hi, crazy grandma! It's easy to narrow down search results by using the tools on the right sidebar. In your example search, you may want to exclude scholarly publicatons, as they may be more for those in the medical field. In the publications search, remember that you are searching words in journal titles. Try "farm" and "farming" and you will get Farm Journal and Successful Farming--free, cover to cover. A search using the word "agriculture" will also give you many results. We appreciate your commitment to lifelong learning!

  2. Hey Dawn I found you. You are cruising right along on this challenge! I am finding everything so helpful. I am thinking Joseph and Lenae could certainly use Learning Express Library to study for the ACT this summer. I would really like to have some workshops on these resources and you could come coteach :). Thanks for reminding me about this. Stacy
